Dominica: Violent protests reported in Roseau November 18

Violent protests were reported in Roseau on Monday, November 18, due to electoral reform tensions ahead of a Friday, December 6 election. Participants are demanding that the ruling party enact electoral reforms that could in turn reduce the ruling party's electoral advantage. Police clashed with an estimated 200 protesters when they sought to march to the Government House, where the president resides.

Additional related protests are likely to continue ahead of the December 6 election with a heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions. Further clashes cannot be ruled out.
