Protest activity reported across Port-au-Prince on November 14; heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions expected over the coming hours

According to US diplomatic authorities, there is an ongoing protest outside the US Embassy in Port-au-Prince as of the afternoon (local time) of Thursday, November 14. A separate protest is also reportedly being held outside the Parc Historique de la Canne a Sucre on Boulevard du 15 Octobre.

A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected in the above-mentioned areas over the coming hours. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.

Haiti has faced numerous demonstrations in recent months calling for greater government transparency after several public officials, including President Jovenel Moïse, were implicated in a scandal related to the alleged misuse of PetroCaribe funds.
