Philippines: Tropical Storm Ramon to make landfall in Northern Cagayan November 18-19 /update 4

Event

The Philippine meteorology agency, PAGASA, updated its forecast regarding Tropical Storm Ramon at 08:00 (local time) on Monday, November 18. It now expects Ramon to make landfall over Northern Cagayan between the night of Monday and the morning of Tuesday, November 19. At 07:00 on Monday, Ramon was located at approximately 17.5°N 123.5°E and moving in a northwest direction at 10 kph (6 mph). The storm has maximum sustained winds of up to 85 kph (53 mph) near the center, and is expected to intensify before making landfall. 

PAGASA forecasts light to moderate rain, with occasional heavy rain, across most of northern Luzon and the Babuyan Islands on Monday through Tuesday, before passing in a southwest direction over northwest Luzon into the South China Sea by Wednesday, November 20. Associated flash-floods, landslides, and other disruptions may occur.

Ramon prompted domestic flight cancelations on Friday, November 15, and on Saturday, November 16, notably in Manilla, Basco, and Naga. Further transportation disruptions are likely in the coming days.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, confirm road conditions and flight reservations before setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
