Philippines: Tropical Storm Ramon to make landfall November 16-17 /update 1

Event

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecast Tropical Storm Ramon to make landfall between Saturday, November 16, and Monday, November 17. According to PAGASA, the storm is expected to weaken to a Tropical Depression after making landfall. A tropical cyclone wind signal (TCWS) N°1 has been issued on Thursday, November 14, in Divilacan, Palanan, Dinapigue, Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Polillo Island, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Albay, Sorsogon, Eastern Samar, and Northern Samar. Further, RCWS N°2 has been raised over the Catanduanes island.

Light to moderate rain, with occasional heavy rain, is forecast in the Bicol and Quezon regions and in the eastern parts of Isabela and Cagayan. Associated flash-floods, landslides, and other disruptions may occur.

As of 10:00 (local time) on Thursday, Ramon was located approximately 290 km (180 mi) east northeast of Virac (Catanduanes), and moving north northwest at a speed of 20 kph (12 mph) with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph (40 mph).

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions before setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
