Australia: Flash flooding reported in southeast Queensland December 13
Thunderstorms and hail cause flash flooding in Queensland December 13; Power outage and transportation disruptions reported

A severe storm has been reported in southeast Queensland, impacting the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and the Sunshine Coast, in the afternoon (local time) on Friday, December 13.
The storm brought as much as 120 mm (4.7 in) of rainfall in just one hour across the Gold Coast, and hailstones between 8-10 cm (3-4 in). Associated flashfloods and power outages have been reported, affecting more than 11,000 homes and businesses in Southport, Runaway Bay, Labrador and Biggera Waters, and Paradise Point.
As of 18:40, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology has lifted the Severe Thunderstorm Warning across the state.
Residual power outage and significant transportation disruptions are expected in the coming hours.

Individuals in Queensland are advised to keep abreast of the situation, to avoid areas directly hit by flooding, and to adhere to any orders issued by the local authorities or their home governments. Remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
