Event
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) issued severe thunderstorm warnings at 19:00 (local time) on Tuesday, December 24, for multiple locations in Queensland including: the Central Highlands, Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia, Wide Bay, Burnett, and Southeast Coast districts. Damaging winds, hailstones, heavy rainfall and associated flooding are likely in southeast areas of the territory, including in the Beaudesert and Springbrook areas. Individuals in Queensland are advised to monitor local weather reports and to avoid areas directly affected by flooding and confirm road conditions before departing. Furthermore, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities and avoid walking or driving through floodwaters - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
