Protesters block roads to Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) December 3, canceling at least one flight; lingering flight and transportation disruptions possible over the coming hours

Warning

Event

Protesters supportive of the opposition United Workers' Party have blocked roads to Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) on Tuesday, December 3, forcing the cancelation of at least one flight. The party's supporters claim that fraud is possible in the upcoming December 6 elections due to weak electoral rules and are reportedly suing to cancel them; Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit is looking to hold the elections as planned. A judge is slated to rule on the legal case on Tuesday.

Lingering flight and road traffic disruptions are possible at and around DOM over the coming hours.

Advice

Individuals in Dominica and flying via DOM are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests, confirm flight reservations, and contact their airline for more information.
