At least 15 people were killed when a plane carrying around 100 passengers crashed shortly after taking off from the Almaty International Airport (ALA) in the morning (local time) of Friday, December 27. The plane, operated by the Kazakhstan-based carrier Bek Air, reportedly lost altitude before colliding with a two-storey building at approximately 07:22.
