Angola: Government relaxes visa requirements to encourage investment as of January 14

The Angolan government has relaxed visa requirements for citizens of select countries to encourage investment as of Tuesday, January 14. Notably, citizens of Botswana, Mauritius, Seychelles, Zimbabwe, and Singapore are subject to the easing of visa requirements, with tourist visas sufficing for conducting business in the country for up to 120 days - an increased allowance from the 90-day tourist visa program previously in place. Moreover, citizens of South Africa, Namibia, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Rwanda, and Zambia can enter Angola without applying for a tourist or business visa.

Context

The move comes as one of the first major reforms pushed by recently designated President João Lourenço, who assumed office in the latter half of 2017.
