The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 5.2-magnitude earthquake 34 km (21 mi) southeast of Namie (Fukushima prefecture) and 90 km (56 mi) southeast of Fukushima (Fukushima prefecture) at approximately 19:37 (local time) on Wednesday, February 12. The quake struck at a depth of 80 km (50 mi). There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. No tsunami warnings were immediately issued.
Aftershocks are possible in the affected areas over the coming hours and days.
