On Monday, February 10, the Fiji Meteorological service forecast that Cyclone Uesi, currently a Category 2 tropical storm, will hit New Caledonia sometime early in the morning (local time) on Tuesday, February 11. The storm is predicted to continue in New Caledonia until Wednesday, February 12.
Reports indicate Uesi may reach Severe Category 3 status. Damaging winds, heavy rain, possible flooding, and dangerous seas are expected.
