A magnitude-5.0 offshore earthquake occurred in the South Pacific Ocean off New Caledonia at around 13:38 April 7. The epicenter was about 244 km (151 miles) east of Tadine. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 19 km (12 miles), and weak-to-light shaking was probably felt in parts of southeastern Loyalty Islands. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake.
