Significant flooding from Cyclone Wasi is cutting off road access in some areas as of February 24; confirm road conditions

Parts of Samoa are experiencing significant flooding as of Monday, February 24, following the passage of Cyclone Wasi over the weekend. Some residents on the island of Savai'i have been stranded, particularly around Samalae'ulu. Local media reported that the Mali'oli'o River and Sasina Fiord on Savai'i rose to dangerous levels, with flood water cutting off road access in multiple areas. On the island of Upolu, the road at Satapuala before Faleolo International Airport (APW) was also inundated. The Land Transport Authority has warned drivers to be cautious when driving to APW.
Residual flooding and transportation disruptions are expected in Samoa over the coming days.
