Air defense systems around the capital Damascus were reportedly activated during the early morning hours (local time) of Thursday, February 6. According to Syrian state media, multiple “hostile targets” were intercepted near the capital. Explosions were reported around Damascus, but no casualties or damages have been confirmed as of 02:00. While no group immediately claimed responsibility for the strikes, the Israeli military has struck more than 200 targets in Syria over the past two years, many of which have been arms depots and military facilities allegedly receiving arms and fighters from Iran and the Lebanese Hezbollah group.
