Tunisia: Security forces target militants in Kasserine province April 4

Members of the Tunisian Army and National Guard conducted counterterrorism operations in Kasserine province on Saturday, April 4. According to military officials, two suspected militants were killed in the mountains.

Similar counterterrorism operations are likely in the region over the near term.

Islamist militants are active in some provinces of Tunisia, particularly in mountainous areas in the west of the country (e.g. Kasserine province) and southern desert areas along the border with Libya (e.g. Tataouine and Medenine provinces).
