Protesters gather in Tataouine province to demand jobs and investments June 9, additional protests scheduled on June 11; avoid all protests as a precaution

Dozens of protesters gathered in several areas of Tataouine province on Tuesday, June 9, to demand jobs and better investment from the state. Participants gathered opposite the headquarters of the province, among other locations. Reports indicate that protesters pitched tents and erected roadblocks to prevent the passage of trucks belonging to six oil and gas companies. There have been no reports of clashes between security forces and protesters as of Wednesday morning (local time), June 10.

Related demonstrations are set to take place in Tataouine on Thursday, June 11, and disruptions to transportation are to be anticipated.

Further protests are expected in Tataouine over the near term.  Associated transportation disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of these protests.
