Indonesia: 6.9-magnitude earthquake strikes off the coast of Larantuka (East Nusa Tenggara province) August 21

The US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.9-magnitude earthquake around 171 km (106.2 mi) northeast of Larantuka (East Nusa Tenggara province) on Friday, August 21. The quake hit at around 11:09 (local time) at a depth of 627 km (389.6 mi). No tsunami warning was immediately issued.

Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.
