Nigeria: Protest scheduled in Abuja for August 19

A student protest is scheduled to take place in Abuja on Wednesday, August 19. The demonstration has been organized by a coalition of student groups and is being held to demand the reopening of university campuses, which remain closed due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Participants are set to gather at approximately 09:00 (local time) in front of the Federal Ministry of Education.

A heightened security presence and associated disruptions to transportation are to be expected around the demonstration site.
