Philippines: 6.3-magnitude earthquake strikes near Talagutong (Davao region) September 6

Event

On Sunday, September 6, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a 6.3-magnitude earthquake 25km (16mi) east of Talagutong (Davao region). The earthquake struck at a depth of 121km (75mi) at 23:23 (local time). No tsunami warning has been issued. No casualties or structural damage have been currently reported.

Aftershocks are possible in the affected area over the coming hours and days.

In the event of aftershocks, individuals are advised to protect themselves as much as possible from falling debris if indoors (e.g., under a table), move away from windows, and not attempt to leave a building unless there is immediate danger. If outdoors, move away from tall buildings, utility wires, and streetlights.
