VBIED blast kills seven in Afrin (Aleppo province) on September 14; further attacks possible over the near term
Event
The detonation of a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) killed at least seven people and injured over 30 others in Afrin (Aleppo province) on Monday, September 14. The blast reportedly occurred near the Kawa roundabout, where the headquarters of a Turkish-backed armed group is located; however, it is unclear if this was the target of the attack. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack at this time.
Further attacks in the region are possible over the near term.
