Trade union plans nationwide strike from October 6-8; avoid all demonstrations

A nationwide strike is scheduled to take place throughout Indonesia from Tuesday, October 6 to Thursday, October 8. The strike will be held over a revision to existing labor laws which is due to be approved by parliament on October 8. The strike has been organized by the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPI) and organizers are calling for workers to observe the general strike at their factory and work locations.
Sporadic gatherings outside government buildings on October 8 cannot be ruled out. A heightened security presence and localized disruptions are possible in the vicinity of all demonstrations.
