Georgian police fired water cannon and tear gas at protesters in Tbilisi on Sunday, November 8. The event took place outside the Central Election Commission (CEC) when demonstrators were protesting to reject the results of the parliamentary elections held on October 31 and to call for new polls. The demonstrations were called for by the opposition Alliance of Patriots of Georgia party.

According to reports, several protesters began throwing stones at police forces, resulting in the use of tear gas and water cannon by the police. Further demonstrations are likely in the near term.

A heightened security presence and localized disruptions are likely in the vicinity of protest sites.
