The US embassy in Port-au-Prince has issued a security alert stating that a security situation of an unspecified nature has been reported in the Petionville area of Port-au-Prince on Saturday, November 28. The Embassy has stated that it received information regarding gunfire in the vicinity of the Giant supermarket and the Conseil Electoral Provisoire office. The incident comes as the electoral council announced that it was preparing a timetable and a draft electoral decree for the 2021 elections as the government faces international pressure to speed up preparations. 

A heightened security presence and localized travel disruptions should be anticipated in the vicinity of the incident.
