Syrian state-controlled media report that four US soldiers were killed in a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) attack near the city of Markada (al-Hasakah governorate) on Sunday, November 8. The attack targeted a vehicle traveling between al-Hasakah and Deir ez-Zor. US forces have reportedly blocked access to the area and have deployed aircraft over the scene. The US government has not commented on the reports.
Further attacks throughout al-Hasakah governorate are likely in the near to medium term.
