Syria: Shelling kills seven in Idlib province November 4

At least seven people, including four children, were killed on Wednesday, November 4, after regime forces targeted the last rebel enclave in the country's northwest, shelling Idlib city and two towns to the north and south. Media sources indicate that one person was killed in shelling which landed near a weekly market in Idlib city, four people were killed in shelling in Ariha, to the south, and two people were killed in similar shelling in Kefraya, to the north. At least 17 others were injured in the attacks targeting the last rebel enclave.

Syria's government and its allied forces have resumed operations in recent weeks, including carrying out an airstrike in late October on rebels in the area that killed dozens of Turkish-backed fighters at their training camp.

Further airstrikes are likely in the Idlib province in the medium term.
