Canada: Activists to protest in Toronto Jan. 2 to demand the removal of COVID-19 restrictions

Activists affiliated with The Line Canada movement plan to protest in Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto, from 1200 Jan. 2 to demand that authorities lift restrictions related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Several hundred people will likely participate in the demonstration.

Police will probably deploy to monitor the action as a precaution and facilitate the flow of traffic. Although most events have remained largely peaceful, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out. Localized traffic disruptions are likely.
