Activists affiliated with The Line Canada movement plan to demonstrate in Edmonton, Alberta, Dec. 19. The purpose of the action is to demand that authorities lift restrictions related to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Participants will assemble at Winston Churchill Square, 1300. The Dec. 19 gathering is the latest in a series of weekly protests being sponsored by The Line Canada.
Several hundred people will likely participate in the demonstration. Police will probably deploy to monitor the protest. Although most events have so far remained largely peaceful, low-level confrontations between demonstrators and police cannot be ruled out, mainly due to current COVID-19 restrictions on outdoor group gatherings in several provinces. Localized traffic disruptions are likely around all large protests.
