Several student organizations have called for a protest at the main gate of the University of Jordan in Amman, from 1300 Dec. 22, against the university's decision to apply a payment deadline for course fees. Protesters claim that many students cannot meet the deadline due to financial difficulties from the impact of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Hundreds of individuals could attend the event.

Authorities will likely increase security to monitor the event. High numbers of protesters could cause localized transport disruptions near the University of Jordan the afternoon of Dec. 22.
