Taiwan: Rail service disruptions to continue on several northern rail lines through at least Dec. 13 following earlier landslide /update 2

Landslide-related rail disruptions to continue on Shenao, Pingxi, and Eastern Trunk lines in northern Taiwan until at least Dec. 13.

Warning

Event

A landslide continues to block rail tracks between Houtong and Ruifang train stations in New Taipei City as of early Dec. 12, disrupting services along the Eastern Trunk, Pingxi, and Shenao lines. Officials estimate that normal services on the affected routes should resume from 0500 Dec. 13, though further delays are possible. Authorities continue to operate additional intercity bus services, and congestion is possible on regional highways, especially along routes linking New Taipei City and destinations on the island's eastern coast, including Yilan, Hualien, and Taitung.

Advice

Confirm transport arrangements if traveling between the affected areas. Allow additional time to reach destinations. Confirm road conditions before driving and consider traveling during off-peak hours due to potential congestion.
