Tunisian authorities have announced a nightly 1600-0500 curfew in the towns of Bani Kheddache in Medenine Governorate and Douz in Kebili Governorate from Dec. 14 until further notice. The orders follow fatal clashes in Ain Sokhna District, near the border of Medenine and Kebili governorates, Dec. 12 over a land dispute. Reports indicate at least one death and more than 70 injuries due to the violence.

Authorities will probably maintain an increased security presence in Douz and Bani Kheddache in the coming days. Further clashes are possible. Localized ground transport and business disruptions are likely, especially if violence occurs.

Bani Kheddache is around 43 km (27 miles) north-northwest of Tataouine; Douz is around 146 km (91 miles) northwest of Tataouine.
