Informational

Event

The National Company for the Exploitation and Distribution of Water (SONEDE) has announced that a planned water outage will occur in several areas north of Tunis from 0800 Dec. 8 through 2359 Dec. 10. Affected areas include La Marsa, Carthage, Le Kram, Les Berges Du Lac I & II, La Goulette, and Charguia in Tunis Governorate, and La Soukra, Ariana, and Raoued in Ariana Governorate. The disruption is to allow for routine maintenance work. Residents may experience lingering disruptions, such as low-pressure supply, through early Dec. 11.

Some business disruptions are possible in the affected areas, especially at companies that rely heavily on municipal water to maintain operations.

Advice

Stock up on drinking water and confirm alternative water supplies for business operations. Use only bottled water from reputable suppliers for drinking and hygienic purposes. Pressure and quality may be poor after service resumes; run taps for several minutes before using water. Minimize nonessential water use throughout the outage.
