A magnitude-6.0 earthquake occurred in Davao Region in eastern Mindanao at around 1222 PHST Feb. 7. The epicenter was about 17 km (10.5 miles) west of Digos City, Davao del Sur Province. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 24 km (15 miles) and produced strong shaking near the epicenter. Moderate shaking reportedly occurred in other areas of Mindanao. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties due to the earthquake; however, some damage is possible. Aftershocks are likely in the coming days.
