A magnitude-5.0 earthquake occurred in the Pacific Ocean off southeastern Solomon Islands at 0006 Feb. 14. The epicenter was about 125 km (78 miles) southeast of Lata, Temotu Province. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 35 km (22 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout the Santa Cruz Islands.
