Tunisia: Tunisair workers to launch indefinite strike at airports nationwide, Feb. 19

Tunisair employees to initiate nationwide strike in Tunisia, Feb. 19. Disruptions likely. Confirm flights.

Warning

Event

Tunisair employees and executives have announced plans to launch an indefinite strike in Tunisia beginning mid-day Feb. 19. The labor action is in response to a series of grievances, including financial problems. Secretary-General of the Regional Labour Union Mohammad Chebbi has announced that Tunisair flights will completely be suspended and that unloading and shipping services could be severely impacted.

Unless averted, the labor action could disrupt airport operations. Slower check-ins, baggage retrievals, and security procedures are likely; flight delays and cancellations are possible. Residual disruptions could continue after the strike ends as airport authorities work to clear any passenger backlog.

Advice

Confirm flight status before setting out for the airport. Do not check out of accommodations until onward travel is confirmed. Allow additional time for check-in, baggage retrieval, and clearing security during the strike.
