A magnitude-6.0 earthquake occurred in the Bismarck Sea off Papua New Guinea at around 21:38 April 10. The epicenter was about 195 km (121 miles) north of Madang, Papua New Guinea. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 10 km (6 miles) and likely produced moderate-to-light shaking in parts of East Sepik, Madang, Morobe, Eastern Highlands, Simbu, Western Highlands, Enga, and Manus provinces. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties due to the earthquake; however, it could take several hours until authorities can conduct comprehensive damage assessments.
