Authorities estimate that delays along sections of the Dongzheng Line will likely continue through April 20 following the April 2 train derailment near the Daqingshui Tunnel near Xiulin Township, Hualien County. The incident killed at least 50 people and injured approximate 200 others; the casualty count could rise. The derailment occurred after an unoccupied truck rolled onto a section of train track.
Rail traffic is currently using single track between Heren and Chongde stations. Increased demand, along with investigations and repair work, may prompt traffic disruptions along nearby sections of the Suhua Highway (Provincial Highway 9).

Plan for localized traffic disruptions near the incident site in Xiulin. Confirm rail reservations if scheduled to travel on the Dongzheng Line.
