Event

Authorities will reopen land borders to foreign nationals from June 1. All fully vaccinated persons may enter via land border crossings without restrictions. Unvaccinated foreign nationals and returning Georgian citizens must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test taken within 72 hours prior to arrival. A second test must be taken within the following 72 hours. Additionally, authorities will also permit travelers from additional countries to enter the country via land and air including citizens and residents of Canada, Japan, Kuwait, China, South Korea, Moldova, and Oman.

Authorities have previously permitted air travel from EU-associated countries, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Belarus, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, UK, Ukraine, US, UAE, and Uzbekistan. All such arrivals must have evidence of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken less than 72 hours prior to departure and take a second test at their own expense within three days of their arrival. Air travel is permitted from any country for individuals who have completed a full course of vaccination against COVID-19. Returning Georgian residents must self-isolate for eight days on arrival; travelers able to produce a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival may end isolation early by taking a second COVID-19 test three days after arriving.

All travelers arriving from India must present a negative COVID-19 test taken within the previous 72 hours and be placed in a quarantine facility for 14 days.

Domestic Restrictions
Authorities previously eased domestic measures. A nationwide 23:00-05:00 curfew is in effect. Residents may only leave their accommodations for essential purposes during curfew hours. As of June 1, catering establishments may operate indoor areas on weekends; previously such establishments were allowed only to operate outdoor areas on weekends.

Most businesses and services, including museums, libraries, catering establishments, fitness centers, and theaters, have been permitted to reopen subject to strict hygiene and social distancing requirements. Face coverings are mandatory in enclosed public spaces and on public transport nationwide. Social gatherings are limited to a maximum of 10 people.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
