Israel, PT: Israeli military launches an offensive against the Gaza Strip early May 14

FLASH: Israeli military launches offensive against the Gaza Strip early May 14. Violence is highly likely.

Critical

Event

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported early May 14 that Israeli air and ground forces are currently attacking in the Gaza Strip. The army provided no additional information.

The ground operation follows the most intense cross-border fire between Israeli and Palestinian forces in a decade. Gazan militants have launched over 1,750 rocket and mortar rounds toward communities in southern and central Israel, including Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, since fighting began late May 10. The IDF has responded with hundreds of retaliatory airstrikes against militant targets in Gaza.

This is a developing situation; additional information will be issued as warranted.

Advice

If operating in Israel's South District and the Gaza Strip, comply with the instructions of local authorities. If possible, limit exposure to official buildings that may be targeted by armed groups, such as security checkpoints and local government offices. When exiting Israel and the Palestinian Territories, confirm with local contacts that border crossings and/or airports are operational before checking out of accommodations.
