Suriname announces nationwide COVID-19-related lockdown measures, including strict movement restrictions, from May 31-June 18.

Authorities announced nationwide lockdown measures will be in effect from May 30-June 18 to stem the spread of COVID-19. Under the measures, all persons must remain in their homes except for in very limited circumstances. One person per household is permitted to shop for essential goods; such shopping may only take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and shopping hours are limited to 07:00-16:00. Gatherings for permitted activities such as religious services are limited to no more than five people. Vehicles may not be driven on roads except to transport personnel for essential services. Government offices and schools are closed. Essential retail locations have strict capacity limits.
Travel Restrictions
International commercial passenger flights remain mostly suspended. Flights between Suriname and Brazil and Cuba are limited to cargo flights and outbound passenger traffic; no passenger flights to or from Haiti are permitted. Travelers from other countries must have proof of having been fully vaccinated or a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) COVID-19 test taken no more than 72 hours before their departure. The borders with French Guiana will be closed May 31-June 18, with all domestic passenger flights banned.
Authorities could reimpose, extend, further tighten, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.
