Warning

Event

Activists plan to hold protests in multiple cities throughout the US May 25 to commemorate the first anniversary of George Floyd's killing. Floyd was killed during an attempted arrest by police in Minneapolis in 2020; his death led to hundreds of demonstrations demanding racial equality in the following weeks throughout the US and worldwide.

Some of the confirmed demonstrations are in the following:

  • Atlanta: March from Troy Davis Park to Liberty Plaza, 18:00

  • Boston: Franklin Park, 18:00

  • Charlotte: March from Marshall Park to Romare Bearden Park, 18:00

  • Dallas: Dallas Police Headquarters, 19:00

  • Houston: Cuney Homes, 17:00

  • Kansas City: Mill Creek Park, 18:30

  • Miami: Torch of Friendship, 17:00

  • Minneapolis: The Commons, 11:00; Intersection of East 38th Street and Chicago Avenue (known as George Floyd Plaza) throughout the day.

  • New York City: Barclays Center in Brooklyn, 17:00

  • San Francisco: Fulton Street, 10:00-18:00

  • Seattle: Westlake Park, 15:00

Protests are likely in multiple other locations, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Baltimore, and Washington, DC. Most protests are likely to have hundreds of attendants; however, some may have thousands of activists.

Clashes and acts of violence are unlikely but cannot be ruled out. Heightened security around the protests is likely, with associated localized transport and business disruptions.

Advice

Allow additional time to reach your destination if operating near a protest site. Strictly heed instructions from authorities.
