Mayotte: Updated COVID-19-related international travel measures in place as of July 7 /update 16

Updated COVID-19-related international travel measures in place in Mayotte as of July 7 following July 5 update; nightly curfew lifted.

Critical

Event

Officials updated COVID-19-related travel restrictions, July 5. Under the newly amended directives, four flights per week will operate between Dzaoudzi and Moroni, Comoros, by EWA Air (ZD) and AB Aviation (Y6). The SGTM carrier will conduct passenger maritime services up to three times per week. Vaccinated travelers to Mayotte from Comoros will need to present an entry certificate, evidence of full vaccination, and a negative PCR test result taken less than 72 hours before arrival. A rapid test will also be taken upon arrival, and travelers will have to isolate for at least seven days.

Unvaccinated travelers from mainland France, Reunion, and Comoros must provide compelling family or personal reasons or an essential professional reason that cannot be deferred to be allowed to travel to Mayotte. Medical emergencies also qualify. Travelers arriving in the territory must produce a negative result from a PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before boarding. Travelers will also be subject to a test on arrival and face a mandatory self-isolation for seven days. Travelers from these areas, excluding Comoros, who have been vaccinated do not require a compelling reason to travel or the isolation period.

Domestic Restrictions
The nightly 22:30-0400 has been lifted. Schools have resumed, and places of worship are allowed to operate with social distancing measures in place. Facemasks are compulsory in public areas, businesses, and public transportation. Indoor and outdoor sporting activities can resume with social distancing measures in place. Nightclubs remain closed, and gatherings of more than 10 people are banned. Domestic maritime travel is operating under revised schedules. Authorities plan to continue to review the restrictions regularly.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions. Reconsider and reconfirm nonemergency health appointments.
