Puerto Rico: Unionized truckers end strike as of July 23 after reaching agreement with government /update 1
Unionized truckers have ended their strike in Puerto Rico as of July 23; lingering supply chain disruptions possible.
Event
Unionized truckers affiliated with the Truckers' Wide Front (Frente Amplio de Camioneros) have ended their indefinite strike as of July 23 after reaching an agreement with the Puerto Rican government concerning hauling fees. Truckers initially walked off the job on July 21, causing an immediate disruption in supply chain distribution and resulting in shortages of gasoline and other goods across the island.
Although the strike has ended, lingering goods shortages are still possible as distribution networks return to normal.
Advice
Reconfirm the status of all deliveries and plan accordingly for residual delays.
