Syria: Alleged US airstrike kills three people in Al-Hasakah Governorate July 21

Syrian state media allege that a US airstrike targeted a site near the town of Al-Hasakah in northeastern Syria, late July 21. Initial reports indicate that at least three people were killed. US officials have yet to comment on the attack. In late June, however, US airstrikes targeted operational and weapons storage facilities belonging to Iranian-backed militias along the Syria-Iraq border in response to attacks by Iranian-backed militias against US personnel and facilities in Iraq.

Further airstrikes and retaliatory attacks remain possible over the coming days.
