Activists from the Black Alliance for Just Immigration group are planning a vehicle protest from Los Angeles to San Diego, Calif., July 31. The convoy will begin at the Leimert Park Plaza in Los Angeles at 08:00 and terminate outside the Otay Mesa Detention Center in San Diego. The protesters plan to stop outside the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles en route.

Traffic congestion is possible along Interstate 5 between Los Angeles and San Diego and on parallel roads. Participants could rally on arrival in San Diego, and police security measures could prompt localized disruptions. Although the event is likely to pass off without incident, isolated scuffles between protesters and police are possible, particularly if the former attempt to breach security cordons.
