Afghan security forces have reportedly neutralized the assailants and secured the scene following an explosion and subsequent shooting attack that began in Kabul's Police District (PD) 10 late Aug. 3. The blast, caused by a car bomb, apparently targeted the residence of the acting defense minister. Four armed assailants later attacked security forces and other targets at the scene. Authorities say the attack killed at least three people and injured seven others. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the incident.
Numerous security personnel have deployed to the incident area. Heightened security and localized transport disruptions are likely to continue in the vicinity of the site through at least early Aug. 4.

Avoid the incident area as a precaution. Allow additional time to reach destinations near the location of the attack.
