Aruba: Authorities tighten some COVID-19 travel and business restrictions as of Aug. 17 /update 30

Aruba has tightened certain COVID-19-related travel and business restrictions as of Aug. 17.

Warning

Event

As of Aug. 17, authorities in Aruba have issued orders tightening certain travel and business restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19.

International Travel
Under the new directives, fully vaccinated travelers from countries considered high-risk, including the US and UK, are no longer exempt from COVID-19 entry testing requirements. Only travelers from certain European countries - excluding those designated high-risk - continue to be allowed entry into Aruba with proof of vaccination (Digital Covid Certificate, DCC). This includes Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Travelers from all destinations must complete the digital Embarkation-Disembarkation Card (ED Card), and must have purchased mandatory health insurance before travel. Except for travelers from accepted European countries, all travelers aged 15 and older must show proof of a negative PCR test, taken between 72 to four hours prior to departure for the island. Individuals arriving without a negative COVID-19 test result will be tested at the airport at their own expense, followed by a mandatory quarantine period of up to 24 hours in their accommodations while awaiting the test result. Travelers from Venezuela are banned from entering Aruba.

Domestic Restrictions
Authorities have reimposed certain business restrictions: facemasks are required in indoor public settings; businesses and beaches must be closed daily between 12:00-06:00; nightclubs must remain closed, and private parties are banned.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice depending on local disease activity.
