Context

Cameroon's Far North and North regions are vulnerable to inter-ethnic clashes due to competition over limited land and resource access. In addition, the region is blighted by cross-border attacks by Nigeria-based Islamist terrorist groups. Militant violence continues to undermine the security environment and reduces the ability of the authorities to prevent inter-ethnic violence.
