The Jan Swastha Abhiyan Sangharsh Morcha (JSASM), a group advocating for improved access to healthcare, plans to hold a protest at Albert Ekka Chowk in Ranchi, Jharkhand State, from 15:00 Aug. 23. The purpose of the demonstration is to denounce a proposed bill to reform healthcare in the state; JSASM activists say the legislation would unfairly promote the interests of private hospitals. Participation in the demonstration will likely be in the dozens to hundreds.

Police will almost certainly deploy numerous personnel at and near Albert Ekka Chowk as a precaution during the protest.
