Kosovo: COVID-19 restrictions remain largely unchanged since late June /update 29

Kosovo leaves COVID-19 measures largely unchanged since late June as of Aug 10; business and travel disruptions remain.

Warning

Event

Authorities in Kosovo have left measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 largely unchanged since at least June 29. As of Aug. 10, entry for nonresident foreign nationals traveling from Brazil, India, and South Africa remains suspended due to COVID-19 variants in those countries. Citizens and permanent residents of Kosovo may enter from these countries but must self-isolate for 14 days upon arrival; isolation may be ended early following a negative PCR test taken on day five of isolation. Citizens of Kosovo who have spent no more than 48 hours in these countries while in transit through them are exempt from the isolation requirement.

All persons, including citizens and residents of Kosovo, arriving from destinations designated as high-risk by the European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC) must present a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours prior to arrival. Individuals without a negative result must self-isolate for seven days upon entry. Persons transiting through Kosovo and transporters are exempt from the test requirement, as are individuals able to provide evidence that they have been vaccinated against or recovered from COVID-19.

Domestic Restrictions
Most nonessential businesses and services are permitted to operate subject to capacity and social distancing requirements. Indoor events are permitted with up to 50 percent capacity, while outdoor events are permitted with up to 75 percent capacity. Restaurants and cafes may remain open until 23:00, except for Fridays and Saturdays when working hours are 05:00-00:00. Face masks are also no longer necessary for outdoor spaces where social distance mandates can be maintained.

All persons must wear protective facemasks in enclosed public spaces; social distancing of 2 meters (6.5 feet) must be practiced where possible. Persons with chronic illnesses and pregnant women are excused from work.

Authorities could extend, reimpose, or otherwise amend any restrictions at any time based on disease activity over the coming days and weeks.

Advice

Follow all official instructions. Abide by national health and safety measures. Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Consider delaying traveling if experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19, as they may prompt increased scrutiny and delays. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions.
