Event

Authorities in Mauritius are maintaining COVID-19-related restrictions as of Aug. 18.

International Travel Restrictions
International travel to Mauritius is ongoing. The first phase, taking place through Sept. 30, allows travelers to enter with COVID-19 testing and specific lodging requirements, which differ based on vaccination status. Travelers to Mauritius who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 must provide a negative PCR test taken 5-7 days before departure. Travelers will also undergo a PCR test on arrival at the airport and on days seven and 14 of their resort holiday. Unvaccinated travelers will be subject to the pre-travel testing requirement as well as 14 days in-room quarantine. They will undergo a PCR test on arrival day, and on days seven and 14. After a negative PCR test on day 14, they will be able to move freely.

From Oct. 1, travel measures will be further eased with vaccinated travelers requiring only a negative test from within 72 hours to enter Mauritius. Unvaccinated travelers will continue to face quarantine measures.

Travelers who stayed or transited through Brazil and South Africa within 15 days of their planned arrival to Mauritius will not be allowed entry to or transit through the country.

Domestic Measures
Public and private gatherings are allowed with a maximum of 50 people only. Beaches are open; however, no picnics or camping are allowed. Public parks, gardens, children’s playground, religious sites, and gyms are also open. Movie theatres, bars, clubs and casinos remain closed.

Authorities could reimpose, extend, further ease, or otherwise amend any restrictions with little-to-no notice, depending on disease activity over the coming weeks.

Advice

Reconfirm all travel arrangements. Liaise with trusted contacts for further updates and guidance. Maintain contact with your diplomatic representation. Ensure contingency plans account for further disruptive measures or extensions of current restrictions.
